Shaping the Future of Care together - The Big Care Debate On 14th July 2009 the Government launched the Green Paper, Shaping the Future of Care Together, which suggests ways it can improve the care and support system in England, both in the way it is delivered and funded. England's care and support system that the green paper says it needs to reform in order to meet the demands of changing society. Yes we are living longer and we have higher expectations of what public services will provide for us. There is more older people, more disabled people and more people with mental health conditions requiring support, many of them will need care for longer. Contact Catherine for a copy of the green paper. As a result, the current care and support system will face increasing costs. The green paper says radical reform is needed, to respond to these pressures as well as to address the concerns that people have told us they have with the current system. The green paper says it wants to create a system for the future that is fairer, simple to understand and more affordable for everyone. Their will now be a period of public consultation until the 13th November. During this time their will be running a series of local events across London at which the issues raised in the Green Paper will be discussed in detail. Some of the proposed changes are stopping Attendance Allowance and potential reduction of DLA. Disability Backup has registered and will inform you of any events happening in the area, alternatively, Please follow the link below to register your place at one of the events:
