The first of our Forum Meetings was held on 23rd October and was a great success! Many thanks to all those who attended and contributed to the meeting.

Please see the minutes to know what was said at the meeting. If you were at the meeting and would like to change anything in the minutes please contact us! Click here to read the minutes.

At the Forum Meeting it was agreed that the members would like another meeting before Christmas. However, we would like to hear from as many members as possible to find out what time is best...Please complete the online questionnaire. Please complete this so we can try and book a Forum Meeting at a time that's best for the majority of Forum Members!

Polite reminder for Professionals: Please note that the Forum Meetings are for disabled people to air their views. Those representing organisations are asked not to attend the Forum unless disabled themselves or having been invited first. All outcomes of the Forums will be made available on the website and newsletter! Many thanks!

Forum News/Information

The aim for the first Forum Meeting was to give members the opportunity to meet and to think about how they would like the Forum to work.

The group identified some key areas within Hackney Council Services that they would like to focus on first, these are some of the most burning topics:
  • Access to Leisure Facilities (financially and physically)
  • Dial-a-ride services/taxi cards and companion badges
  • Housing
  • Planning, e.g. home alterations
  • Assessment and Care management at the Council/ Access Team
  • Adult and Children's Services
  • Highways and Contractors, repairs and getting about
Do you agree? If you prefer not to attend the Forum Meetings we still want to hear from you! Please call, email, write, phone or complete the questionnaire attached to have your say!

Do you want to be strongly involved in one or more of these topics? We are looking to have small focus groups to work on these topics and feed back information to the main Forum.

Interested? Please contact Catherine.

What next?

We will be looking at how to tackle these topics and inviting Council members to the future meeting to talk about these services. Watch this space for dates/topic of the next meeting!
